Natural Ways To Treat Greasy Hair

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is known for its many benefits and is a popular ingredient in natural remedies to treat certain issues, including greasy hair.  It is apparently very effective if you dilute the apple cider vinegar in some lukewarm water and then use it as a rinse after shampooing your hair.

2. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is also said to be a good treat for greasy hair, as its acidity is said to dry your hair out a little.  This is good news if you do have a problem with grease, but be sure to only try this once a week to start with and be careful in the sun as it does have the tendency to bleach your hair when it is covered in lemon juice (which is probably a good thing if you want bleach blonde locks!)

Plan yogurt is not only a delicious and healthy treat for your gut, but it is also said to do wonders for your greasy locks.  Simply apply plain yogurt to your scalp, as well as to the lengths of your hair, leave it on for 20 minutes, and then rinse it thoroughly.

4. Peppermint tea

If you want to give your greasy locks a makeover, then look no further than peppermint tea.  Yes, really!  It's not only great for soothing nausea, but it is also great for your hair and might just work for you!  Simply brew the tea, let it cool, and then use it as a final rinse after shampooing.

Cucumber juice is an excellent treat for greasy hair due to its astringent properties, as well as its refreshing, cooling, and clarifying features.  If you use it as a final rinse after shampooing its natural astringents help to tighten the pores on the scalp, reducing excess oil production and preventing the scalp and the hair from becoming very greasy.

Hibiscus flowers are beneficial for greasy hair because they contain natural enzymes and acids that, like cucumber juice, have astringent properties.  Not only this but the flower also has antimicrobial properties that can prevent the growth of bacteria that can contribute to greasiness.

The high citric acid content that is present in orange peel helps to cleanse the scalp and remove any residue that is likely to cause greasy hair.  And it is packed with vitamin C and antioxidants that make the scalp and hair very happy indeed.

Cedarwood essential oil can help control the excessive oiliness of the scalp and minimize the production of sebum.  It is also great at improving blood circulation to the scalp, ensuring that all of the good nutrients can make it to your hair follicles for maximum hair and scalp health.

Aloe vera is also a natural astringent and is a wonderful ingredient to add to your hair care routine as it is able to effectively remove excess oil without stripping the hair of the moisture it needs.  It also has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties too.

Baking soda is another wonder ingredient used in natural beauty care and even household cleaning!  But it is excellent for greasy hair as it is a natural absorbent that helps to remove excess oil and buildup of hair products on the hair and scalp.  That said, it can be extremely drying so use it sparingly.

21. Chamomile tea

Chamomile tea is usually drunk for a warming, comforting, and relaxing brew.  But what if we told you that you could brew a little more and rinse your hair with it for a similar effect as well as reducing the oil?  You'd probably jump at the idea and brew some up straight away!
