With so many movie stars and celebrities keeping it in the family these days - nepotism, amiright? - it's hard to remember that some of them actually came from nothing. And, specifically, trailer parks - or even homelessness. A lot of celebs were living in very dire circumstances before they made it to the glitz and glam of the red carpet. Here are some of the celebs who made it from humble beginnings in the trailer park, to the fame and fortune of Hollywood.
Leighton Meester Was Born In Jail!
Actress and Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester was actually born in jail, after her mother was thrown behind bars for drug smuggling charges! Leighton was then made to live with her grandmother until her mother had finished serving the rest of her time in jail.
That can't have been easy! Leighton managed to get past a difficult beginning (right from the day of her birth, to say the least!) for super stardom. Though Gossip Girl's headband-rocking Blair Waldorf is her biggest known role, she's recently starred in more movies on Netflix, and making her poorer child-self super proud.

Halle Berry Was Broke And Homeless
Hollywood actress and all-time-glam celeb Halle Berry left home at 21 years old to try and find work in New York and fend for herself. Unfortunately, she miscalculated how expensive New York can actually be (who has money at 21 anyway?) - and after her parents didn't bail her out, she ended up living in a homeless shelter to get by!
She apparently didn't speak to her parents for a year after, either... We have to think maybe her parents were trying to teach her something about responsibility if she'd made the rash decision to go to New York without the right amount of cash...
Jim Carrey Called A Van Home
Jim Carrey has to be one of the most successful actors and comedians of our generation, but success wasn't always in his radar. When the actor and comedian was only 12, his father lost his job, leaving the family in a difficult circumstance. Carrey dropped out of school to try and support his family.
Despite Carry trying to find paying jobs, the family still lost their home and had to live in a van! It's a good thing that they even had a van to call home instead of nothing at all - and our respect for Jim has gone through the roof in him trying to provide at such a young age.
Celine Dion Lived In A Tiny House - With 12 Siblings!
Celine Dion is one of the most successful and talented singers in the world, with a voice anybody would recognize anywhere. The legendary singer didn't always have so much money, though, before her fame and fortune - growing up, she was living in a very low income house (a tiny one at that) with 12 other siblings!
Feeding one mouth is hard enough! Dion has labelled her childhood home as a "very, very, very small house"! Though, a very, very, very small house is still a house, right? Which is more than most on this list had... Still, we imagine that got VERY claustrophobic for her.
Shania Twain Was Hungry And Poor
Before she was singing about very much feeling like a woman and wearing iconic leopard print jumpsuits, Shania Twain didn't have it so good. The singer grew up in a very violent household, apparently, which also included her and her siblings being neglected and going hungry.
To make it worse, when she was only 21, her mom and stepdad both died in a car accident, leaving her to fend for her siblings. Luckily, her singing talents started earning her money and she could leave that sort of life behind. Though, with what she went through, that's memories you'll never forget...

While she's an example of a 'nobody' becoming a superstar, we didn't quite realize she had it so rough... She's done incredibly well for herself since those days living from her car, and not just with her singing career - also with her own TV talk show these days, too.
Chris Pratt Shared His Van - With Mice!
Before he was Star Lord, and way before his successful acting career, actor Chris Pratt was actually homeless after high school. He ended up going to Maui with a friend, where he couldn't find a place to live, despite how he might have dreamed it would be - so they ended up both living out of a van!
Cozy to say the least (and by that, we mean claustrophobic). Despite it being less than comfortable... he apparently called it, 'living the dream'! This was even when he shared the van with mice, apparently - who no doubt caught a whiff of food Chris had been eating in there.
Demi Moore Was Raised In An Actual Trailer Park

More shocking is the fact that poverty hit him after his role in Star Trek!

Sam Worthington Lived In His Car
And William Shatner isn't the only celeb who had to make use of his vehicle to live back in the day. Before the success of Avatar and his other movies, Sam Worthington would have to couch surf and live out of his car while trying to find auditions. He also had to sell everything he owned while living in poverty, trying to find his big break.
