1. Selena Gomez – Lupus
You’d never guess to look at but actress Selena Gomez suffers with the disease Lupus – a condition caused by problems with the immune system whereby it attacks healthy cells and tissues.
No young person should have to worry about such things, but Lupus can range from mild to life-threatening and in Selena’s case, it led to her needing a kidney transplant.
Her best friend, Francia Raisa, heroically donated her kidney for Selena – meanwhile my best friend wouldn’t even make me a cup of tea. That’s true friendship right there.
2. Lady Gaga – Fibromyalgia
This debilitating disease which causes pain all over the body and can be incredibly hard to diagnose and treat – it is normally caused by a stressful event, such as having an operation or bereavement.
Having seemingly endless energy, you’d never know she was affected, but pop star Lady Gaga had to cancel her European tour last year due to this long-term condition which affects nearly one in twenty people!
3. Morgan Freeman – Fibrolmyalgia
Fibromyalgia is thought to affect seven times more men than women and as another star living with the ‘excruciating’ disease, Morgan said:
“I only get one life, and I will not let fibromyalgia take the joy from living it.”
We can just imagine hearing it in his iconic voice. Truly inspirational.
4. Selma Blair – MS
You probably know her best for her roles in Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions, but only recently did she reveal her MS diagnosis.
MS – Multiple Sclerosis – is a condition which can affect the brain and/or spinal cord and causes fatigue and difficulty walking.
She bravely shared in an Instagram post:
“I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it.”
5. Ke$ha – Vestigial Tail
Yep – a tail. Not a cat’s tail like you’re probably picturing… but a tail nonetheless.
In her shocking revelation, she claimed that she had a tail when she was born, but doctor’s removed it when she little much to her dismay… She said:
“I’m really sad about that story.”
6. Halsey – Endometriosis
This single revealed that her diagnosis was bittersweet as it meant that she:
“wasn’t being a baby.”
She spoke out about the doubts she received from doctors that she had an illness and provided support for others suffering with the painful illness.
7. Sasha Pieterse – Polycystic Ovary Sydrome
Best known for playing Alison in the American TV Series Pretty Little Liars, Sasha struggles with a disease that is thought to affect one in every five women in the UK.

More than half won’t have any symptoms but some will face weight gain, hair loss, acne or even excessive hair growth (on the face, chest, back or buttocks). Not easy for anyone to deal with and less so when you’re consistently in the limelight!
Sasha spoke out about the condition after people shunned her for putting on 70 pounds over two years – a side effect of the illness – and rightly so! Stop shaming celebs. They’re human too, guys.
8. Kim Kardashian – Psoriasis
This beauty icon is praised by many for her model good looks and having built a brand around appearance, you would hardly know that she suffers with a skin condition.
Only slightly noticeable on her leg, she revealed earlier this year that the condition (which causes red, flaky skin) is nearly completely cleared up. Woohoo! Truthfully we never noticed anyway, Kim.
9. P!nk – Asthma
P!nk has lived with the lung condition since she was a small child, but has absolutely no problem belting out the notes.
So what, she’s still a rockstaaar!
10. Demi Lovato – Bipolar Disorder
Being in the limelight since she was just sweet sixteen, Demi has opened up about the many troubles she has faced including Bipolar disorder, which causes periods of depression and mania.
Changing the mental illness stigma
In 2015, she became the spokesperson for Be Vocal: Speak Up For Mental Health, after she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder which affects 2.6% of the American population each year.
After previously struggling with bulimia, cutting and drug addiction – whilst also re-entering rehab after an apparent drug overdose earlier this year – Demi now works to erase the shame surrounding mental health. We support you Demi!
11. Avril Lavigne – Lyme Disease
This singer/songwriter has combatted Lyme disease which is an infection spread to humans by the tiny, gross animal we normally associate with dogs: Ticks.
“I had accepted that I was dying”.
It’s hard to believe that the condition which comes from a tick can cause such severe symptoms, but the disease can cause chronic fatigue and aches – similar to that of fibromyalgia.
12. Bella Hadid – Lyme Disease
Supermodel Bella grew up on a farm which is most likely the cause of her Lyme disease.
“I couldn’t get out of bed for six days. And my brain would get all foggy, and I couldn’t see. That was the hardest time of my life.”
Be sure to cover skin if your prone to a good hike and definitely use an insect repellent!
13. Hugh Jackman – Skin Cancer
Our favourite circus ringmaster revealed last year that he once again received treatment to combat skin cancer.
The actor has been treated for this disease at least four times, but has battled through and come out stronger on the other side every. single. time.
Hugh was banned from singing for his recovery period, but that didn’t stop him spontaneously breaking into song during a rehearsal for The Greatest Showman. He just couldn’t resist! God, we love him.
14. Tom Hanks – Diabetes
Perhaps the most well-respected actor of our time, Tom actually sees himself himself as “an idiot.” Bit harsh, Tom.
He blames his unhealthy eating habits as the reason for his diabetes saying:
“I’m part of the lazy American generation that has blindly kept dancing through the party and now finds ourselves with a malady.”
15. Halle Berry – Diabetes
Widely known for playing Catwoman and being a sexy bond girl, Halle was diagnosed with diabetes when she became ill at 22 and ended up being in a coma for week.
She has to inject her insulin at ‘inopportune times’, but is determined not to let it interfere with her life. Wise words.
16. Harry Styles – Supernumerary nipples
This One Direction heart throb, embraces his unusual body and is definitely not afraid to show it off. Good news for his fans! Oof!
One nipple, Two nipple, Three nipple… FOUR
Whereas most people have just the one extra nipple, Harry actually has a spare set boasting FOUR nipples in total.
This was something we thought only affected Chandler in Friends, but in fact it is thought that between 0.2 to 2 per cent of people are affected by it! Huh.
17. Daisy Ridley – Endometriosis
The Star Wars queen shared her story on Instagram detailing the pain, skin problems and consultations she must endure as a result of her conditions.
1 in 10 women suffer with endometriosis, which causes pain in the lower belly and back; Daisy has cut out dairy and even sugar in an attempt to make the disease less volatile. In her words:
“waah, except for spontaneous ice creams.”
18. Nick Jonas – Diabetes
Nick is another celeb struggling with Type 1 diabetes and even wears a Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitor to help control the illness.
19. Sarah Hyland – Kidney Dysplasia
The young star of Modern Family revealed that she suffered with the kidney condition after her kidney transplant in 2012 – her illness forms painful cysts, worsening over time.

20. Gigi Hadid – Hashitomo’s Thyroiditis
Believe it or not, tiny-framed Gigi Hadid faced body-shamers telling her she was too big for the modelling industry… Are you serious? Any thinner and she’d fall down a grate!
She owned the haters by tweeting about her disease which can cause inflammation and water retention. Haters gonna hate but make sure you think before you run your mouth off! They were definitely just jealous…
21. Winnie Harlow – Vitiligo
Caused by a lack of melanin and affecting one in every one hundred people, Winnie has embraced her condition but firmly states:
“I’m not a ‘Vitiligo Sufferer’. I’m not a ‘Vitiligo model’. I am Winnie. I am a model. And I happen to have Vitiligo.”
One thing is for sure, she still looks drop dead gorgeous.
22. Sam Faiers – Crohns Disease
TOWIE star Sam has talked openly about her disease, which she was diagnosed with in 2014 after she left the Big Brother house.

Fans were quick to point the loss of her vibrant, spirited personality which we now know was down to the life-long illness, which affects millions of people around the world.
At her lowest she was a teeny 7 stone, but is now managing her condition by cutting out alcohol, spicy and acidic foods (tough times) but she says she is healthier than ever! What a hero!
23. George Clooney – Chronic Pain
The actor, filmmaker and the star of our dreams *sigh*… has told of his chronic pain that prevents him from sleeping.
His spinal injury, caused by a stunt when filming Syriana, left him saying:
“I can’t exist like this. I can’t actually live.”
While surgery has helped his condition, he still wrestles with the occasional headache and his pain, although bearable, will never fully go away.
24. Matthew Perry – Missing finger tip
Matthew is missing the tip of his middle finger due to an:
“unfortunate door-shutting incident in nursery”
Definitely wasn’t his day, his week his month, or even his year…
25. Mariah Carey – Bipolar
The ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ singer revealed just earlier this year that she battles with bipolar disorder, even though she was first diagnosed way back in 2001 after a physical and mental breakdown.
She hopes to remove the stigma
Mariah is receiving therapy and taking medication for the illness, which involves periods of depression and mild manic episodes.
Surprisingly, one in every hundred UK adults will be diagnosed with the condition at some point in their life and Mariah says:
“I’m hopeful we can get to a place where the stigma is lifted.”
26. Catherine Zeta Jones – Bipolar II disorder
The fabulous actress who dazzled us in Chicago admitted to suffering with the disorder in 2011 and her openness about her journey has been praised as she also attempts to erase the stigma surrounding mental health.
“I know I’m not the only person who suffers with it or has to deal with it on a day-to-day basis. So if I’ve helped anybody by discussing bipolar or depression, that’s great.”
It’s so good to see celebs using their fame for good!
27. Kate Bosworth – Heterochromia
You’ll definitely recognise Kate’s face, but did you notice her different coloured eyes? This quirk affects around 6 in 1000 people and is the result of a variety of different causes such as genetics or trauma.
28. Kate Walsh – Brain Tumour
The star of Grey’s Anatomy and 13 Reasons Why was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2015 and has since amazingly had it surgically removed.
“In that moment I left my body”
Kate, like the majority of us, had never considered the possibility of getting a brain tumour and just days after her MRI, she went under the knife to remove the cancer.
“I just really want…all those cliché things, I don’t want to work as much, I want to travel more, I want to spend more time with family and friends—all of those things.”
It might be cliché but it’s cliché for a reason. It’s something we should all take on board.
29. Missy Elliot – Graves Disease
Rapper Melissa AKA Missy Elliot suffers with the condition Graves’ Disease which can cause weight loss, rapid heart rate and a bulging in one or both eyes.
Women are most at risk of the disease and sufferers are urged to exercise, eat well and avoid stress – something we should all do more of.
30. John Mayer – Appendectomy
It’s a completely useless organ but can cause major troubles for those whose appendix becomes swollen.
John Mayer was one of them but jokingly posted a selfie with the caption:
“still got it”

31. Cher – Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
We all know her song Do You Believe In Life After Love but we didn’t know that the singer had Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME).
It’s not “feeling tired”
Affecting 17 million people world wide, the disease is often dismissed as tiredness but few people know that it causes pain and problems with the nervous and digestive systems.
When speaking about her illness, Cher said:
“My experience was that it was really a physical illness — but it does make you depressed as well … Boy, it was devastating for me.”
32. Jennifer Garner – Brachymetatarsia
This is a condition whereby one or more toes overlap the others. Ouch – not so glam Jen.
Jennifer’s pinky toe is the one affected and it looks like it should be incredibly painful! But rest assured, the condition causes no pain… just plenty of sidelong glances.
33. Lily Allen – Third nipple
Here’s another celeb on the list with a third nipple – not as many to boast as Harry Styles but still an intriguing thing to know about the pop star and she is not shy about revealing it!
34. Frankie Muniz – Mini Strokes
Nope – we’ve never heard of mini strokes either, but actor Frankie Muniz’s episodes mean that he can’t remember most of his childhood.
Even all his filming?
Frankie opened up about his disease and admitted that he even can’t remember much of the filming of Malcom in the Middle.
The symptoms of a mini stroke are the same as a normal stroke, though the symptoms clear up in a few minutes or hours. It’s not something we’d have known sat at home watching our fave childhood sitcom!
35. Gerard Butler – Tinnitus
You know how annoying it is when there’s a persistent alarm blaring away and you want to shove your head in a pillow? – Tinnitus is a similar condition, but one you can’t escape.
Gerard Butler has been affected by the condition since childhood and is now hard of hearing in one ear. Annoyingly, there is no cure to his condition and the advice given is to try and relax or even join a support group!
36. Ashton Kutcher – Webbed Toes
It’s no joke that this comedy actor really does have webbed feet…
In fact, 1 in every 2,000-3,000 babies are born with either webbed fingers or toes!
37. Sarah Michelle Gellar – Scoliosis
In other words, it’s a curvature of the spine – but this actress didn’t let it stop her from slaying any vampire she could.
The bombshell regularly dares to go backless on the red carpet and if we hadn’t been told, there’s no way we would have noticed the curve.
Scoliosis affects about 3 in every hundred people and Sarah is definitely an advocate of positive body image – Carry on, gal!
38. Pamela Anderson – Hepatitis C
Baywatch stunner Pamela lived with the disease for SIXTEEN years (which if left untreated can be fatal) after she shared a tattoo needle with her ex-husband Tommy Lee.
The disease is spread through blood-to-blood contact such as sharing needles or having unprotected sex – luckily treatments are now available to fight the illness.
39. Megan Fox – Clubbed Thumbs
Fondly nicknamed the ‘toe thumb’ Megan has revealed her insecurities about her deformity, but being crowned FHM’s sexiest woman in the world in 2008, it’s safe to say she has nothing to be ashamed of!
40. Kathy Bates – Breast Cancer
Known for her roles in American Horror Story, Misery and Titanic – this talented actress has bravely overcome both ovarian AND breast cancer.
Smiling in the face of fear
After a double mastectomy Kathy exclaimed:
“I’ve joined the ranks of women who are going flat, as they say”
Only wearing prosthetics when required for film roles, Kathy really is a hardcore role model for everyone facing the disease. We salute you!
41. Jimmy Kimmel – Narcolepsy
Ironically, late night talk show host has the sleep disorder narcolepsy which affects around 3 million people worldwide.
Comedian Jimmy pokes fun at his disease by saying:
“Truth be told, I’d rather have narcolepsy than not have it. When I get on a flight to Vegas, I’ll fall asleep before the plane takes off and wake up after it’s landed.”
That’s a pretty neat trick.
42. Zac Efron – Third Nipple
Yep – The perfection that is Zac Efron is another hot celeb with an extra nipple, but there is NO way that will stop his fans dreaming of becoming the next Mrs Efron. Ooft.
43. Angelina Jolie – Double Mastectomy
Angelina made the brave decision to have her breasts removed after doctors estimated that she had an 87% risk of getting breast cancer – a gene that runs in her family.
“I feel empowered”
“I decided to be proactive and to minimise the risk as much I could.”
Since the surgery, her chances of getting the cancer (that affects about 12 per cent of people) have dropped now dropped to five per cent.

44. Melanie Griffiths – Epilepsy
In 2017, the actress known for her roles in Working Girl and Lolita opened up about the illness that she had kept quiet for so many years and for her is brought on by stress.
She joked that she had fewer seizures after her divorce from former husband Antonio Banderas – probably relatable for many people…
45. Lil Wayne – Epilepsy
After a particularly bad seizure which resulted in him going to hospital, the rapper said:
“This wasn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh…I have had a bunch of seizures, you just never hear about them.”
It just shows us we never fully know the troubles that celebrities face.
46. Maria Menounous – Brain Tumour
There’s nothing this woman can’t do. Actress, journalist, TV host and even a professional wrestler.
Maria 1 – Cancer 0
Maria came out the winner after she kicked cancers behind, after a seven hour surgery (on her birthday!) to remove a tumour the:
“size of a golf ball.”
On finding out the diagnosis she said:
“I didn’t cry. I actually laughed. At that point, it was like, ‘This is a joke.”
But now in recovery, Maria is getting stronger day by day.
47. Venus Williams – Sjorgen’s Syndrome
Yep – even athletes that we think are invincible have their own illnesses to fight.
This autoimmune disease can cause muscle and joint pain, rashes and tiredness – but it didn’t prevent Venus from winning four gold medals and numerous sportswoman awards! What an inspiration.
48. Bono – Glaucoma
The Irish U2 popstar revealed that behind his famous coloured glasses, he suffers with glaucoma – an eye condition where the optic nerve becomes damaged.
49. Denzel Washington – Crooked Pinky Finger
Actor Denzel Washington known for his films The Equaliser and Fences has a somewhat ‘magic finger’.
Denzel doesn’t mind showing off his freaky finger, which is apparently the result of repeated injuries playing American Football.
It’s undeniably noticeable and pretty unnerving, but it’s just a quirk that makes him all the more interesting.
50. Michael Douglas – Tongue Cancer
Known for his roles in a wide range of films, Michael was diagnosed with stage four cancer in 2010 which he says was a result of performing oral sex.
He battled the stage four cancer, which is often terminal, and his intensive chemotherapy proved successful. He is now partnered with the Oral Cancer Foundation which helps others battle against the disease.
51. Alec Baldwin – Lyme Disease
The star of 30 Rock has been affected by the disease not once but twice!
He now ensures that he constantly checks his children over with a magnifying glass for signs of tick bites after bike rides and outdoor activities.
52. Tom Cruise – Middle Tooth
An undoubtedly dashing actor but do you ever stare at him and wonder if something is just a little bit off?
If you haven’t, you definitely won’t be able to unsee this now: his middle tooth is smack bang in the middle of his gorgeous face.
Apparently, dental surgery is the reason behind his wonky smile as he had so much work done, it has now left his teeth just a bit off-centre.
53. Kristen Chenoweth – Asthma and Meniere’s disease
Star of stage and screen Kristen suffers from the inner-ear condition Meniere’s Disease, which can cause vertigo, tinnitus and hearing loss.
But that, along with her asthma, has certainly not prevented her from belting out the hits in shows such as Wicked and starring in episodes of Glee.
54. Shania Twain – Lyme Disease
A household name and hit songwriter but it’s lesser known that the Canadian popstar fought off Lyme Disease after luckily seeing the tick that bit her fall off her arm. She warned:
“There’s a very short window to catch it and then treat it.”
55. Zoe Saldana – Hashitomo’s Disease
Another Hollywood starlet with the disease, Zoe insists that the illness will not slow her down!
Known for her role in Star Trek and Avatar, Zoe revealed that the condition sadly runs in her family as her mother and sisters also share the disease.
Being an actress with long days on set is hard enough without the added struggles, but Zoe amazingly refuses to let it impact her career.
56. Michael J Fox – Parkinson’s
The super talented actor, author and activist, Michael has far from let his illness prevent him from being enviably successful in the acting world and even setting up his own foundation for Parkinson’s Research!
Michael is affected by the nervous system disorder which can cause involuntary tremors and stiff muscles, but thanks for his foundation, there has been many breakthrough initiatives that have catapulted scientists much closer to finding a cure.
57. Gemma Arterton – Sixth Finger
Believe it or not, being born with a sixth finger is a fairly common condition and the extra finger does not contain a bone (ew).
Doctors removed the extra finger when Gemma was just a child so luckily for her, not a trace remains.
58. Olivia Newton John – Cancer
Diagnosed with the illness for third time, the actress staunchly believes that she will win her battle.
The face of a determined woman
The star of Grease revealed that she cut sugar out of her diet and is actually using home grown cannabis (in addition to other medicines) as a means of fighting the disease and easing her pain.
It’s Olivia’s husband who grows the herb at the couple’s ranch in California and it definitely seems to have helped Olivia’s pain as she said:
“Initially I had a lot of pain. I don’t have pain now.”
59. Anthony Anderson – Diabetes
Oddly enough, Anthony’s character in Black-ish also has diabetes, an issue explored in the fourth season of the hit show.
In real life, Anthony struggled for 16 years with the disease, until he finally decided to implement changes that would help him control his condition in an ‘epiphany’ after his father sadly passed away due to complications from the same illness.

A massive fan of apple bottom jeans and boots with the fur, this rapper also has the most bizarre ear… What on earth?
61. Nick Cannon – Lupus
The word Lupus is interestingly the Latin word for wolf, as the facial rash it causes seemingly resembles a wolf bite.

“I don’t necessarily look sick, but there are times when I wake up and I can’t move.
The disease is neither infectious nor contagious and although it’s not a visible disease, it can quickly become gravely serious.
